THE GLOW GUIDE / RESEARCH PROFILE 03

Selank.

The “calm” claim deserves a closer look.

Selank is often discussed for anxiety and stress. There are human studies, but what each one measured matters. Let’s look at the clinical comparisons, a brain scan, and the questions they leave open.

REAL-LIFE RESEARCH NOTES / FROM EMILY

My research, in real life.

I’m Emily, the independent researcher behind Glow Theory. My research comes from using peptides myself and tracking real-life observations. I’ll share what I noticed while being clear about what one person’s experience can tell us.

ON SELANK / ASK ABOUT MY NOTES

Curious about Selank? Ask what firsthand observations I can share. I’ll tell you what I’ve actually used and tracked, and what questions remain open.

01 / FOLLOW THE QUESTION

What do we actually know?

Open the question you came with. Each answer links to the study or FDA document behind it.

A 2008 report compared Selank in 30 people with medazepam in 32 people with generalized anxiety disorder or neurasthenia. A separate 2014 report compared Selank with phenazepam in 60 people with phobic-anxiety or somatoform disorders. They reported symptom findings in these clinical groups, but their small size and active-drug comparisons do not establish that Selank works as well as an established treatment, helps everyday stress, or is broadly safe.

02 / THE EVIDENCE LENS

Three things to keep separate.

01

A comparison

A small study against another drug can raise useful questions. It does not, by itself, prove equal benefit or tell us how Selank compares with no treatment.

02

A brain signal

Connectivity on a scan is a measured biological change. Relief from anxiety is a clinical outcome that needs to be tested directly.

03

A specific product

The form, route, purity, and quality of a product affect what we can infer from research. Human safety information remains limited.

03 / BEFORE YOU BELIEVE A CLAIM

Three good questions
to ask next.

  1. Was anxiety relief measured in people, or was it a brain-imaging signal?
  2. Does the study match the exact form, formulation, and route being discussed?
  3. What are the safety unknowns and regulatory status for that product?

For a decision about your own health, bring these questions to a licensed clinician who knows your history.

THE RECEIPTS
